人びとの池上線 - Every Person in Ikegami Line - まちに還すコミュニケーション

観察とスケッチ - Observe and sketch

Due to the impact of COVID-19, we need to reorganize our attempts to travel around cities and towns to conduct field research, which we refer to as "camp." At the moment, it is not possible to plan an overnight trip with more than 20 students, as we have been able to do in the past. In June, because we were all in the mode of "stay home," we conducted a project online named "It's a bit tight" and focused on the changes in how people organize their day-to-day life.

This time, we attempted to design a "camp" by combining online and on-site activities amidst the gradual easing of restrictions. First of all, we avoided indoor situations as much as possible and planned the activities mainly outside. Unlike interviews, we did not set up a situation where we would make direct contact with people. Instead, we all acted as observers, observing and sketching while maintaining a proper distance (social distance or public distance) from our subjects.
There are many attempts to capture people's mundane from the standpoint of "modernology" (kogengaku)." For instance, Jason Polan's "Every Person in New York" is an incredibly fast-paced project.

"Every Person in Ikegami Line" is based on the "Camp Proposal" (by Hinako Aoki, Izumi Iimori, Fumi Ota, Nagisa Makino, and Koichiro Yasuda) submitted as part of the Special Research Project (September 2020). The original draft included the keyword "Every Person in Ikegami Line," referring to Polan's project.

For this project, we selected stations along the Tokyu Ikegami Line as our research site. Students observed and sketched in pairs the "comings and goings" of each station. And they tried to depict the "characteristics" of the Ikegami Line through its users. As in the case of the "creation of hanging advertisements" on trains, which we have done several times, we intend to explore various possibilities in exhibiting our research results at stations and public spaces along the railway lines.

全国のまちを巡る「キャンプ」は、COVID-19の影響を受けて、再編成をせまられています。現時点では、（これまでのように）20数名の学生たちとともに、宿泊をともなう形で旅程を組むことができません。6月は、“Stay at home”が原則だったので、オンラインでインタビューをおこなうプロジェクト「ちょっと窮屈な毎日」を実施し、人びとの生活時間の変化に着目しました。

今回は、少しずつ活動制限が緩和されているなか、オンラインとオンサイトを組み合わせた「キャンプ」を実施します。まず、できるかぎり屋内を避け、「外」での活動を中心に計画します。そして、インタビューのように人びとと直接かかわる場面は設けず、〈観察者〉としての距離（社会距離あるいは公衆距離）を保ちながら、観察とスケッチをおこないます。

考現学的な観察で、人びとの様態をとらえる試みはたくさんあります。たとえばJason Polanによる“Every Person in New York”は、とりわけスピード感のあるプロジェクトです。

「人びとの池上線」は、「夏季特別研究プロジェクト」（2020年9月）の一環として提案された「キャンプ案」（青木日向子・飯盛いずみ・太田風美・牧野渚・安田浩一郎）をもとに構成したものです。「キャンプ案」では、Polanのプロジェクトになぞらえて、“Every Person in 池上線”というキーワードが付記されていました。

今回は、池上線沿線の各駅を対象にえらびました。ペアで、それぞれの駅の往来を観察、スケッチし、人びとの姿をとおして「沿線（らしさ）」を描き出す試みです。成果は、ウェブにくわえて、ZINEやポスターなどの紙媒体にまとめます。これまでに、加藤研究室で数回おこなった「中吊り広告をつくる」試みのように、駅や沿線の公共スペースでの成果公開など、多様な流通・掲出の可能性をさぐります。
